HySecunda attends the launching of report on the SA green hydrogen research review

Sandton/Johannesburg - HySecunda representatives took part in the Green Hydrogen Research Review in Sandton/Johannesburg, marking an important step in networking towards sustainable energy solutions in the region.

The event, organized by Green Hydrogen South Africa Networking Events, brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to explore emerging themes and priorities in GH2 research. Among the distinguished attendees were Dr. Cosmas Chiteme from the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), Prof. Sampson Mamphweli, Ms. Robyn Vilakazi, and a highly engaged audience.

The insightful discussions, led by panelists and supported by the comprehensive "Green Hydrogen Research Review report" presented by Dr. Karen Surridge, underscored the impressive strides South Africa is making within the hydrogen economy.

"We are truly inspired by the progress witnessed in South Africa's hydrogen economy and honored to have been part of such a pivotal event," said Sebastian Schindler, representing HySecunda as a panelist. "The collaboration between public and private sectors is crucial for driving innovation and achieving sustainability goals."

Special recognition was given to Marlett Balmer from GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini, whose support and expertise were instrumental in the success of the event. Closing remarks by Thomas Schneider from GIZ South Africa, Lesotho & eSwatini provided a platform for fruitful networking, setting the stage for future collaborations.

"We thank all participants and contributors, including for their invaluable insights and commitment," added Mark Mirza, who had been invited to Johannesburg as another HySecunda representative.

Looking ahead, the HySecunda consortium is excited to continue its commitment to green hydrogen research and innovation. Plans are underway for a workshop related to the HyShift project in Secunda, scheduled for May 22, 2024.
